Swedish cover for the first Max and Meta book, coming out in 2026.
Meta Publishing has agreed with the Swedish publisher Easy Peasy Publishing to publish two Max and Meta books in Swedish.
The first will be “Max and Meta – The Moon”, which is also the first of what is currently 11 Danish Max and Meta books that present natural science in a new way through humorous stories. All the books are in comic-book form, and even relatively complex scientific concepts are conveyed through witty dialogue—along with a small touch of magic, provided by the series’ heroine.
The text is written by the experienced nonfiction author Troels Gollander, while the illustrations are by illustrator and satirist Lars-Ole Nejstgaard. Lars-Ole Nejstgaard has just finished adjusting the illustrations for the Swedish edition of “Max and Meta – The Moon”, while Troels Gollander is currently working on developing new exercises so that the Swedish Max and Meta books can be used in teaching in the lower grades of Swedish primary schools.

Lars-Ole Nejstgaard
Lars-Ole Nejstgaard is a cartoonist and illustrator of children’s books, several of which have been adapted for film. He is also the political illustrator for a number of magazines and yearbooks – and has exhibited at the Comics Art Museum in Brussels. He is a member of Cartooning for Peace founded by the UN and Plantu from Le Monde.
Troels Gollander
Troels Gollander is one of Denmark’s most popular writers of science literature for children and young adults and is the prize-winning author of more than 100 natural science books for grade 1-9 pupils. He was a science teacher for many years and now writes about the subject he loves. He often speaks at schools and libraries to inspire children’s interest in the fantastic world of the natural sciences. With his motto “Making the complex simple” Troels Gollander makes science accessible to everyone.
